A new academic year fills the campus with excitement and a palpable energy.
As we approach the beginning of the semester, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for all that you have done in preparation for our students’ return, and what you will do in the coming days and weeks to welcome and transition them to Rutgers University–New Brunswick.
This week, I had the opportunity to share the Knight’s Call – a code outlining the values and expectations for all members of the Rutgers community – with our student leaders. As student affairs professionals, in many ways, you embody this code. You are AUTHENTIC in your interactions with students and each other. You are INCLUSIVE in the services provided to ensure that everyone feels welcome here. You are RESPONSIBLE for igniting the lifetime learning and self-exploration of students. You are RESILIENT, and “show up” in spite of challenges and adversities. And you are ENGAGED, realizing that the work we do transforms the student experience.
Thank you for answering the Knight’s Call. Our students and the Division of Student Affairs could not be successful without you.
