January 23, 2017

Dear Students,

I am delighted to welcome you to the 2017 Spring semester!

Once again, your presence enriches the campus with a palpable energy, and provides a new opportunity to define what it means to be a Scarlet Knight.

You are at the heart of everything that we do. The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create innovative learning opportunities, programs, and services that prepare you to lead, serve, and become engaged world citizens. In order to further this mission by making data-driven decisions, and generating a student-driven roadmap for the Division moving ahead, we will be engaging in a number of surveys, giving you an opportunity to share your voice. Each survey looks at a different aspect of the student experience, so we ask that you participate in all of them.

The first survey which launched today, the Master Planning Process, is an exciting initiative which looks holistically at our current facilities and existing programs to determine how they can evolve to enhance the student experience. This includes many facilities you may use every day including dining, recreation, health services, cultural centers, and student centers. To take this survey, visit go.rutgers.edu/SAMP17. More information on the surveys, incentives, and how the information will be used can be found on our Surveys and Assessments page.

Again, the student experience is paramount to defining a Rutgers–New Brunswick education. Your past feedback has resulted in a new Commuter Lounge in the Douglass Student Center, charging stations added to our student centers, CAPS counselors at multiple locations across the campus, and Dream Week– an inaugural week of events honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., that kicks off tonight at the Livingston Student Center.

Thank you in advance for your time and feedback. Your support in shaping our campus community for yourselves and future Scarlet Knights is greatly appreciated.

It is an honor to serve as your Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, and I very much look forward to engaging with you during this semester. Feel free to visit me during my open office hours on Fridays from 10am-12noon in the College Avenue Student Center.

Warm regards,

Dr. Felicia E. McGinty
Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs
