RUID/Student ID Number All Rutgers students on all campuses are assigned a student identification number known as the RUID. Your RUID number is displayed on your RUConnection Card / Campus ID Card. Students can also find their RUID number by logging on to "My Rutgers"at https://my.rutgers.edu/profile. Your RUID is a nine-digit number where the 4th and 5th digits are "00". It is not your social security number and there are no social security numbers with 00 as the 4th and 5th digits. Rutgers stopped using social security numbers as the student identification number on February 13, 2006. Former students for whom the University maintains records in the Student records database have also been assigned an RUID to replace their former student identification number. The university will continue to hold social security numbers on students, though the SSN will no longer be the default student ID. The university requires SSN to process financial aid, for various medical records, for payroll and various student accounting functions. Only those offices that require SSN to perform their functions will request SSN from students. Offices requiring SSN will adopt appropriate security precautions. Students on all three campuses can get further information on their RUConnection/Campus ID Card at the following websites: New Brunswick: http://www.rci.rutgers.edu/~ruconxn/ Students with questions or concerns about their RUID number can e-mail the Registrar's Office at ruidhelp@rci.rutgers.edu.
