Rutgers University believes in the free expression of ideas by community members
Questions are sometimes raised regarding how public colleges can create welcoming campus environments while respecting the rights individuals have to express ideas freely. All members of our community are free to express their viewpoints in public forums as private citizens, including viewpoints that may be perceived by others to be unwelcoming or intolerant. We do not restrict the activities of recognized university organizations, including the speakers they invite to campus, as long as these organizations obey the law and follow University policy and guidelines regarding these events.
Incidents reported as bias acts may not be in violation of any civil, criminal or University codes, and will not result in discipline. Support may be offered to those reporting incidents and educational programs may be offered by the University.
