Dear Scarlet Knights,
Welcome! The start of a new semester is an exciting time, as the campus is once again energized by your presence. Whether this is your first semester or you’re returning to the banks, we’re thrilled that you’re here and committed to ensuring your academic success through a holistic approach in offering student services.
As we begin the second week of classes, I wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with some updates and remind you of the many resources and programs offered by the Division of Student Affairs.
Last semester, the student centers began getting a much-needed facelift to make the spaces more inviting and conducive to student engagement. We have updated the Community Gathering Spaces, lounge furniture, equipment, and meeting rooms in many of the centers, and plan to make these improvements to all facilities by the end of the Spring semester.
We are also working closely with the Rutgers Commuter Student Association (RCSA) on the grand opening of the new Commuter Student Lounge at the Douglass Student Center scheduled for later this month.
Counseling, ADAP and Psychiatric Services (CAPS)
We have expanded hours within our Community-Based Meso Practice Initiative. Students who want to talk to a counselor in an informal, one session consultation can drop in at any location across campus.
Last semester we launched a new application, the RURec2GO available from the App Store. It is a one-stop shop for all things happening at Rutgers Recreation, providing facility hours, programs, services, etc.
In addition to our College Ave location, Panera Bread is now also located in the Busch Student Center. We’ve also extended the hours of operation at the Dunkin’ Donuts located in the Douglas Student Center. It is now open until 10:00 pm Monday-Thursday.
Graduate Student Lounge
Construction is currently underway in the Graduate Student Lounge, located on the College Avenue Campus. We anticipate that it will be completed this semester. Some of the updates include renovated office space for the Graduate Student Association (GSA), a dedicated office space for the Dean of Graduate Student Life, and a new Graduate Community Gathering Space.
I encourage you to explore and take full advantage of all that we have to offer. Check out our websites; you’ll find information on student organizations, off-campus living resources, student support, Rutgers Student Food Pantry, Greek Life and more. Stop by and visit me during my open office hours on Fridays from 10am-12noon in the College Ave Student Center. I look forward to and enjoy hearing from you!
Your success is a shared responsibility. My team of over 1200 dedicated professionals and I have created innovative learning opportunities, programs, and services to prepare you to lead, serve, and become engaged world citizens. We are ready to transform your student experience into a fruitful and memorable one, R U?
Wishing you a successful semester!
