Involvement Opportunities Available Throughout the Semester
February 15, 2022
Dear Scarlet Knights:
As we continue our transition back to in-person learning and programming, I would like to emphasize the involvement opportunities available to everyone on campus. As the past two years have highlighted, college is just as much about the learning that takes place outside of the classroom as it is about the learning that takes place in it, and I encourage you to begin or continue your involvement and leadership in the Spring 2022 semester.
In the next few weeks, student clubs, organizations, and departments across campus will be hosting several events designed to bring Scarlet Knights together. Below are a few events of note:
- The Paul Robeson Cultural Center, in conjunction with campus partners, has compiled a calendar of events throughout the month of February in celebration of Black History Month.
- Student Centers and Activities’ Late Knight “Disney Villain Night” in the College Avenue Student Center on February 17.
- The Asian American Cultural Center’s Pan Asian Lunar New Year Celebration on Zoom on February 18.
- Both TEDx Rutgers’ and the Mark Leadership Conference’s respective conferences in the Livingston Student Center on February 26 and March 5.
More programs and events may be found by visiting getinvolved.rutgers.edu and by following our Student Affairs social media accounts.
Although general programming is essential to establishing community at Rutgers, our 800+ student clubs, organizations, and departments also provide countless opportunities to explore your interests. If you’d like to play sports, Recreation offers sport clubs and intramural leagues; if you’d like to learn more about fields such as psychology, business, or art history, graduate and undergraduate academic clubs will welcome you. At Rutgers, you can join fraternities and sororities, go for a hike, compost food waste, pray with your peers, perform community service, and so much more. Whether you are an on-campus, off-campus, or commuting, an undergraduate or graduate student, there is something here for you.
Involvement often goes beyond attending meetings, events, and general participation: you may choose to join the leadership of a club or organization. For those interested in learning more about leadership, Student Centers and Activities are hosting leadership workshops throughout the semester. Additionally, the Rutgers University Student Assembly (RUSA) and school governing councils, along with most student organizations, will be holding officer elections in the coming months. Students can also pursue leadership opportunities through departments like Dining Services, which is currently hiring student employees. In addition, Career Exploration and Success offers Handshake, a career management platform for students interested in job and internship opportunities.
Throughout the semester, Rutgers will continue to offer programming and support to all Scarlet Knights. I encourage you to visit getinvolved.rutgers.edu and explore the many opportunities available to you. I hope that we will all manage to explore and support our individual and university-wide communities through continued involvement, leadership, and care.
Wishing you a successful semester!
